A great course for any business that has a pool, this is an international certification from Highfield that is run by the BritSwim team in Oman.
It trains non-lifeguards in keeping pools safer - it’s not a lifeguarding course in itself, but a really useful additional course that teachers, pool management, or any other staff can take to be more familiar with pool safety and how to maintain it.
Details:
GOOD FOR: learners wishing to develop skills and knowledge in basic pool safety and rescue, acting in a support role at pools where suitably trained and qualified lifeguards are on duty.
WORKS BEST AT: schools, clubs, hotels, compounds.
COVERS: facility operations, basic venue and activity safety, safe rescue techniques and key incident management strategies.
DURATION: one day (8 hours).

TAKES PLACE: in the pool and in the classroom.
Course Requirements:
- Swim 50 meters continuously
- Surface dive to the floor of a pool to recover an object
- Climb out of the pool without the use of ladders/steps
- Speak English or Arabic
We recommend learners also get a First Aid qualification with this course - we can provide that in addition.
A full lifeguard qualification from Highfield International, delivered by the BritSwim team, and recognised globally by safety authorities.
Details:
GOOD FOR: businesses that have a requirement from management or from the authorities to qualify, or re-certify lifeguards who are already in position.
WORKS BEST AT: schools, clubs, hotels, compounds.
COVERS: facility operations, basic venue and activity safety, safe rescue techniques and key incident management strategies.
DURATION: three to four days, depending on the learners.

TAKES PLACE: in the pool and in the classroom.
Course Requirements:
- Swim 50m in less than 60 seconds
- Swim 100m continuously in deep water
- Tread water for 5 minutes
- Surface dive 3m to recover a 4kg target
- Climb out of the pool without ladder
- Speak English or Arabic

We have two First Aid courses, one designed for businesses to train their staff, and one for deployment in the home or office that also covers family First Aid.
Both are courses by (and certified by) Highfield International, delivered by the BritSwim team, and recognised globally by safety authorities.
Details:
GOOD FOR: businesses or families.
WORKS BEST AT: home, office, schools, clubs, hotels, compounds.
COVERS: emergency action for adults, children, and infants role and responsibilities of a first-aider, assessing an incident, unresponsive casualties (breathing and not breathing), choking, shock and minor injuries.
DURATION: one to two days.

BritSwim currently manages and delivers all curriculum swimming at PDO School, TLC, and Finland Oman School.
Our teachers work with the PE Department to make sure we deliver on expectations and provide exactly what schools - and parents - are looking for.
Details:
GOOD FOR: schools who are missing a dedicated, specific swimming teacher, or need support in this area.
WORKS BEST AT: schools with pools, and even those without - if the school can provide transport, we can meet at a partner pool to provide lessons.
COVERS: lessons from total beginner to competitive swimming - we assess our students and manage their groupings in alignment with the PE schedule.
DURATION: we’re flexible - we can deliver per term or per school year.
PRICE: highly competitive - we can clarify that for you, but it’s usually in line with the cost of hiring a dedicated teacher.
TAKES PLACE: either a the school’s pool, or at one of our premium pool venues.
